PHILOSOPHY
Villa Walsh Academy is committed to the belief that all persons, being richly endowed by God with gifts of intellect and spirit, have a unique opportunity and obligation to develop these qualities to the fullest in accordance with His plan of creation.
The Academy is further committed to the philosophy and practice of the threefold purpose of Catholic education, namely to teach the Good News of Jesus Christ, to build Christian community, and to serve the needs of others.
Villa Walsh Academy is committed to actualizing this vision:
-by preparing its young women to proclaim the Good News and to translate this proclamation into action
-by inspiring faith which will enliven the knowledge students gain of the world, of life, and of mankind
-by providing quality education which nurtures self-esteem through self-discipline
-by transmitting ideas and values in a manner that encourages creativity, reflection, and intellectual criticism
-by providing programs of study which help form young women committed to Christian principles and values
-by providing programs of study which develop knowledge of American democracy, and which promote civic virtues necessary to their preservation
CURRICULUM
Villa Walsh Academy aims to serve the student body by relating the school curriculum and experiences to one's basic expectations for a meaningful existence.
Coursework covering theology, mathematics, the sciences, including computer science, humanities, social sciences and the fine arts presents a rigorous challenge and solid preparation for a college-bound population. Advanced Placement preparation, honors sections, independent study, and academic accommodation for the exceptionally gifted and musically talented have also addressed individual needs and talents of Villa Walsh students over the years.
Administration and faculty assume responsibility to continuously assess, evaluate, and develop the curriculum. Faculty members meet frequently to study educationally sound innovations which they may propose to implement on a departmental or interdepartmental level.
