INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF GLOBAL LEADERS! What an incredible opportunity for Villa Walsh Academy student Asmi! Last Friday, Asmi had the extraordinary honor of participating in an intergenerational dialogue with Ban Ki-moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations! A Beautiful Celebration of Faith at Villa Walsh Academy! On Tuesday, September 29, our Villa Walsh Academy community had the honor of welcoming Bishop Kevin Sweeney as he celebrated a beautiful Mass in honor of the Feast of the Archangels. Under the twinkling lights of our beloved Tower, we kicked off senior year with an evening filled with laughter, friendship, delicious food, and memories in the making. One of the most special moments of the night was the beginning of a beautiful new tradition, each senior presented a classmate with her senior sweatshirt, sharing heartfelt words about what makes her so special. A touching reminder of the friendships, sisterhood, and bonds these young women have built throughout their Villa journey. French class, Villa style! Learning a new language goes beyond the textbook at Villa! It’s these creative, interactive moments that make learning fun, and help our girls build the confidence to try something new, participate, and Become More. A beautiful night. A Villa first. And the perfect way to begin a new school year! What an incredible evening at our 2026 Parent Social! For the first time, our Villa families gathered at the Mansion to kick off the 2026–2027 school year together, and it truly could not have been more special. The weather could not have been better, the food and drinks were wonderful, and the sunset from the Mansion porch was absolutely stunning. But the best part of the evening was seeing our Villa community together, new families meeting one another, longtime friends reconnecting, and so much laughter and conversation filling the porch and grounds. Our heartfelt thanks to Sr. Marianne for so graciously opening her home to our Villa families and making this beautiful evening possible. It was such a special opportunity to gather at the Mansion, and our families loved every minute of it. A special thank you to our Principal, Sr. Elaine, for beginning our evening with a beautiful blessing and for doing the honors of drawing the winner of our Tuition Raffle. Congratulations to the Greguske Family, this year’s lucky winner! Thank you to HSA Presidents Chris and Karen Vowells, and the entire Home & School Association for their leadership, hard work, and hospitality in helping bring the evening together, and to our Administration for joining us and spending the evening connecting with our families. WE WILL NEVER FORGET. This morning, the Villa Walsh Academy community gathered in St. Lucy Chapel for a special prayer service marking the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. Together, our students, faculty, staff, Sisters, parents, and members of our greater Villa community paused to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders and all who served, and to pray for the families who continue to carry the memory of that day. Twenty-five years later, we remember not only the tragedy of September 11, but also the extraordinary courage, compassion, unity, and selflessness shown in its aftermath. As a community of faith, we pray for peace and for a world in which the next generation carries forward those lessons of love, service, and care for one another. 25 years later, we remember. We honor. We pray. We will never forget. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13 *Photos by @elizabeth_lebowitz_photography #NeverForget #September11 #PatriotDay #25Years #VillaWalshAcademy

During the program, Katie worked on a research project focused on hydrokinetic turbines, exploring how the power of moving water can be harnessed to create clean, renewable energy. From asking big questions to exploring innovative solutions for a more sustainable future, Katie spent her summer putting curiosity into action, and discovering just how far it can take her. What a wonderful way to close out our summer series. We are so proud of Katie and all of our Villa girls who spent their summers learning, exploring, serving, competing, creating, traveling, and challenging themselves to BECOME MORE. Now it’s time to bring all of that energy back to Villa. Here’s to an incredible year ahead! #VillaVacationVentures #VillaWalshAcademy #NJGSET #WomenInSTEM #FutureEngineers

A Rainy Night. A Full House. A Beautiful Beginning. We may have been hoping for a beautiful summer evening on the porch of the Mansion…but Mother Nature had other plans. And somehow, it turned out even better. Last night, we welcomed an incredible group of Villa Walsh alumnae inside the Mansion for the first gathering of our new Alumnae Association, and what a night it was! For many of our alumnae, it was their first time ever stepping inside the Mansion, making the evening feel even more special. The rain fell outside while inside there was laughter, reminiscing, great food and drinks, wonderful conversation, and that unmistakable Villa spirit that connects generations of Villa girls. Most importantly, we listened. We heard so many thoughtful ideas, wonderful stories, and exciting possibilities for the future of our Alumnae Association. The enthusiasm in the room was incredible, and we cannot wait to take all that energy and begin building something meaningful together. Our heartfelt thanks to Sr. Marianne for so graciously opening her home and welcoming our alumnae into the Mansion. It was a beautiful gesture that made the evening truly memorable. And thank you to Sr. Elaine for joining us and being part of this special beginning. To every alumna who came out, especially on such a rainy night, thank you. Seeing so many Villa girls return home, reconnect with one another, share their ideas, and get excited about what comes next was exactly what we hoped this first gathering would be. The porch will have to wait for another night. But we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect beginning. This is just the start. Welcome home, Villa girls. #VillaWalshAcademy #VillaWalshAlumnae #VillaGirls #WelcomeHome #AlumnaeAssociation

Villa Vacation Ventures | Learning Beyond the Classroom This summer, Lauren Doss ‘28 took her passion for science to the next level as she attended Emory University’s Pre-College Program in Atlanta, Georgia. During the two-week residential experience, Lauren joined more than 100 students from across the country to study Cancer Biology under the guidance of an Emory University professor. She explored cutting-edge cancer treatments for both pediatric and adult patients, designed laboratory investigations to identify proteins and cell surface markers that contribute to tumor growth, and concluded the program with a student-led presentation on pediatric neuroblastoma. Beyond the classroom, Lauren built new friendships, strengthened her public speaking skills, and experienced life as a college student, an opportunity that will undoubtedly inspire her future academic journey. We are so proud of Lauren for embracing this incredible opportunity and representing Villa Walsh Academy with curiosity, determination, and excellence. #VillaVacationVentures #VillaWalshAcademy #FutureScientist #STEMEducation #VillaShines

Serving with Compassion. Leading with Heart. This weekend, Villa Walsh Academy seniors Mae Honan, Lia Griffin, and Lauren Petrie joined Sr. Josephine in Dover for a meaningful day of service at the John Corr Foundation’s Annual Community Baby Shower. Working alongside volunteers, our students sorted and distributed donated baby clothes, shoes, toys, diapers, and other essential items to Hispanic mothers-to-be and families in need. Beyond lending a helping hand, the girls also had the opportunity to practice their Spanish while building connections with the community they were serving. At Villa Walsh Academy, service is more than something we do, it’s a reflection of who we are. Experiences like these inspire our students to lead with compassion, embrace different cultures, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. We are so proud of Mae, Lia, Lauren, and Sr. Josephine for representing the Villa mission with generosity, kindness, and joyful service. #VillaWalshAcademy #VillaServes #FaithInAction #ServiceLeadership #VillaShines

Leading with Purpose. Inspiring Change. Through hands-on activities, meaningful discussions, and new friendships, they strengthened the skills and confidence needed to become leaders who make a positive impact in their schools and communities. We are incredibly proud of Samantha and Lauren for embracing this opportunity to grow, lead, and represent Villa Walsh Academy with enthusiasm, integrity, and Villa pride. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, we can’t wait to see where your leadership journey takes you next! #VillaWalshAcademy #FutureLeaders #HOBYNJ #Leadership #VillaShines!

What an amazing week at Robotics Camp! Our rising 6th–9th grade campers spent the week exploring the exciting world of engineering, coding, and design. From building their own XRP robots to programming them to complete autonomous challenges in the space-themed Orbit Odyssey game, every day was filled with creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. Campers also learned the fundamentals of CAD using Tinkercad, designed custom robot attachments, watched their ideas come to life through 3D printing, and mounted their creations onto their robots, just like real engineers! We wrapped up the week with an exciting FIRST Robotics Competition-style double-elimination tournament, where students showcased everything they had learned. Families also enjoyed a tour of our robotics lab and a live demonstration of Rubi, our REBUILT-season competition robot. In just one week, these students gained hands-on STEM experience, built confidence, and discovered what is possible through innovation and perseverance. We are so proud of all they accomplished and can’t wait to see where their passion for STEM takes them next! Thank you to our incredible campers, families, mentors, and volunteers for making this week such a tremendous success. #VillaWalshAcademy #STEMEducation #RoboticsCamp #Sisters1stRobotics #FutureEngineers

For the third consecutive year, Villa Walsh Academy’s FIRST Robotics Competition Team, Sisters 1st, has partnered with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), one of the state’s leading public research universities, to support an innovative engineering research program. This summer, three Villa Walsh students have been commuting to the NJIT campus to participate in a hands-on engineering internship under the guidance of Professor Petras Swissler. Throughout the program, students learn how to identify real-world challenges, conduct interviews with those directly affected, and design, build, and test prototypes using engineering tools such as Arduino electronic boards. As part of their internship, the students visited St. Joseph’s Hall on July 9 to meet with several Filippini Sisters and learn about the challenges that can accompany aging. The Sisters generously shared their experiences, offering valuable insights that will help guide the students as they develop innovative solutions designed to improve the quality of life for older adults. This meaningful collaboration not only gives our students invaluable real-world engineering experience but also reflects Villa Walsh Academy’s commitment to using STEM education to serve others with creativity, compassion, and purpose. #VillaWalshAcademy #STEMInAction #WomenInEngineering #InnovationWithHeart #Sisters1stRoboticsTeam

At Villa Walsh Academy, family extends far beyond graduation. We are incredibly proud of alumnae Christina Cucolo ’21, who is combining her passion for scientific research and running to make a difference in the lives of others. Celebrating Villa Sisterhood Across the Years! This spring, Villa Walsh Academy was delighted to welcome home two special reunion classes as they gathered to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate the lifelong bonds formed at Villa. The Class of 2001 recently celebrated its 25th Reunion, returning to campus to visit former teachers, tour the Academy, and relive cherished memories before gathering at Bistro 73 for an evening of friendship, laughter, and reminiscing. This year, twelve outstanding Villa Walsh Academy students completed the AP Capstone Program, a rigorous two-year academic experience that challenges students to think critically, conduct original research, and communicate their findings with confidence. Beginning with AP Seminar under the guidance of Mrs. Julie Oliveros and culminating in AP Research with Mrs. Kristina Pasko, students developed the skills necessary to tackle complex, real-world questions through scholarly inquiry. Their independent research projects explored a wide range of timely topics, including social media, mental health, genetics, nutrition, empathy, and public perception. Through months of investigation, analysis, and presentation, these young scholars demonstrated remarkable curiosity, perseverance, and intellectual rigor. The AP Capstone Program continues to provide Villa Walsh students with an exceptional opportunity to engage in college-level research while developing the critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills that will serve them well in higher education and beyond. Congratulations to our AP Research Scholars on this impressive achievement! #APCapstone #APResearch #AcademicExcellence #CollegeLevelResearch #VillaShines!

After nearly a year of dedication, curiosity, and perseverance, Mrs. Pasko’s AP Research students have officially submitted their final papers to the College Board, and took a well-deserved moment to celebrate. From choosing their topics to diving into background research, building instruments, gathering and analyzing data, and crafting thoughtful, organized arguments, these students have truly done it all. Their work now heads to Kansas City, where it will be read and scored by educators from across the country in early June. For now, it’s time to pause, recharge, and enjoy the moment (as you can see 😊). The final stretch of the year will bring a lighter pace, and even a dive into classic British satire to close things out. So proud of this group and all they’ve accomplished. Our guests even joined their granddaughters in the classroom, experiencing a glimpse of daily life at Villa, before the day came to a truly meaningful close with Mass, where we gathered in gratitude for the love and faith that bind our families together. We are so proud to have launched what will surely become a treasured Villa tradition. Thank you to all of our grandparents for being such an important part of our community, your love is the foundation that helps our girls grow and shine! #VillaWalshAcademy #GrandparentsDay #RootedInLove #GrowingInFaith #VillaSHINES

Retreat Day Highlights! On October 22nd, VWA’s 7th and 8th graders embarked on their annual retreat at Christ the King Church in New Vernon. The day began with a beautiful Mass, setting a reflective tone for the journey ahead. After Mass, students engaged in fun icebreakers and games - including musical chairs - to strengthen their bonds and build community. They took time for personal reflection and journaling, focusing on the theme of God’s immense love for each of us. The day also included a deep dive into the Prodigal Son scripture passage, where students engaged in meaningful discussions about the Father’s unconditional love and His welcoming embrace. This retreat was a wonderful opportunity for our middle schoolers to step away from their daily routines and grow closer to Jesus through prayer and fellowship. #VillaWalshAcademy #RetreatDay #FaithAndFriendship #middleschool #allgirlscatholicschool #sisterhood #morristownnj #VillaShines!!

A group of Villa Walsh Academy students joined with a group of Delbarton students to travel to Trenton, NJ for the March for Life on September 26th. A deeply meaningful experience, the students united as a community to support life and to stand in prayer for those most vulnerable. Our day began with Mass at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, concelebrated by bishops from various dioceses in New Jersey, including our own Bishop Kevin Sweeney. Afterward, students participated in the rally, where they listened to speakers and joined in prayer with fellow attendees. We wrapped up the day by walking through the streets of Trenton. Overall, it was a wonderful day to bond and stand together with other schools and members of our diocese in support of life. #marchforlife #campusministry #makingadifference #catholiceducation #faithbased #trentonnj #morristownnj #VillaShines!

On Friday, October 4, the faculty and administration of Villa Walsh Academy came together for a peaceful retreat at St. Joseph by the Sea. The conference, led by Fr. Scott Shaffer, began with a light breakfast, followed by Mass, a delicious lunch, and concluded with time to walk, read, or relax on the beach. The homily centered on the ways in which each academic subject may be approached from a faith-based perspective. Fr. Schaffer also called for each one of us to be pilgrims of hope during the upcoming Jubilee Year, a virtue that is especially vital in today’s world. The committed faculty at Villa Walsh Academy continues the mission entrusted to them by St. Lucy Filippini in 1692, prioritizing both the intellectual and spiritual development of young women. #facultyretreat #stjosephbythesea #educatingyoungwomen #educatorsatthebeach #facultybonding #retreatandreflect #morristownnj #VillaShines!

Students in Mrs. Pasko’s AP Research class traveled to Rutgers University’s Alexander Library in New Brunswick, where they spent time with a Rutgers librarian to learn the techniques and tools necessary to search in RU databases. The students expanded on their previous research and gathered sources to develop arguments and methods for their 5,000-word papers due in April. The students visited the stacks, where they raced to locate a book using a call number identified from the database. The trip also included a session with a faculty member of RU’s Honors College, who gave an overview of the program and introduced some of the key concepts taught in first year courses, such as interview skills and ways in which to assess the credibility of sources. This enriching experience not only equipped the students with invaluable research skills but also inspired them to approach their upcoming projects with newfound confidence and creativity. #learningoutsidetheclassroom #rutgersuniversity #libraryskills #englishclass #5000wordpaper #apresearchclass #brilliantstudents #morristownnj #VillaShines!

When we vow to ‘never forget’ the events of September 11, 2001, it’s essential that we truly honor that commitment. Today, Villa Walsh Academy invites everyone to pause and reflect on the thousands of lives lost that day—lives taken abruptly and violently—and to recognize the bravery of those who rushed into danger in the aftermath, offering help and support in the days, weeks, and years that followed. “To truly ‘never forget,’ we need to keep sharing the stories of our fallen heroes. We must endure the silence, discomfort, and grief together. We cannot erase history, no matter how painful or challenging it may be. To ‘never forget,’ we must revisit this tragic day each year, together. We need to engage in difficult conversations, view the photographs, listen to the calls, hear the stories, and watch the footage.” —Cote Anne And then we must turn to prayer, entrusting our lives, our nation, and our world to God, the only true source of peace. 🙏 #september11 #neverforget #remembrance #patriotday #honor #unitedwestand

VWA SENIORS! Last day together! Moving forward! #classof2024 #seniorawardsday #weloveyou #youshine!

On Wednesday, May 22, the Villa Walsh Academy sophomore class presented the results of their year-long Sophomore Research Projects to the teachers, administrators, and student body. Working with mentors throughout the school year, the students investigated relevant and current scientific topics of personal interest using a variety of sources. Topics of study were as varied as the individual students. We learned about the science of happiness, cognitive effects of anesthesia on the elderly, cell phone addiction, phantom limbs, Multiple Sclerosis in women, saving the coral reefs, the affects of sleep deprivation on teens, the social and emotional effects of dementia, positive affects of dance therapy, to name a few. Impressive work sophomores!
